The Football in the Community project closed the curtains on another very successful school based coaching year with a fantastic girl’s tournament held at Christ Church School in Brick Lane.
More than fifty girls from Christ Church, Osmani, Stewart Headlam and Smithy Street school came together to celebrate the hard work over the year and put their skills to the test. There was some outstanding football played through the group stages and knock out stages with Christ Church and Stewart Headlam making the final. It was a very closely fought final with chances going both ways, so close that it took penalties to separate the two teams.
Stewart Headlam proved to have nervous of steel as they won the shoot out 3-1 to take this year’s Girls School’s Championships.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the coaches and teachers for all their hard throughout the year and most importantly the children who have taken part and been such a joy to work with.
Were all off to recuperate in the sun shine somewhere in Whitechapel until September!!!
